Home Assessment and Modification

The ability to remain at home, or age in place, is the goal of many older adults. There are many environmental risk factors that can lead to falls and increase the risk for injury within the home setting. A home assessment can be performed to identify environmental hazards such as inadequate lighting, poor furniture placement, stairs without railings, lack of grab bars in the shower, slippery flooring, loose throw rugs, or thresholds that can pose a tripping hazard. Following a home assessment, recommendations for modification of the home environment can help reduce the risk for falls and injury. Our therapists will assess the exterior and interior of your home, examining each room to assess for environmental hazards. A written report of findings and recommendations will be provided. Contact Right Step Therapy to schedule your home assessment today.
